This was part of BAINS ARGENTIQUES ~ Nantes's International Film Labs Meeting - 4 » 9 july, 2016

FilmLabs.org and ressources on the web

Filmlabs.org

The idea of this website emerged at Bruxelles meetings organised by Nova. It's content is what the lab people propose.

Recent developpement & needs

The recent works section appeared and was almost dead until Mire used it for this meeting. The works in this are also send on the “Agenda” mailing list of filmlabs. Which is run by Nova.

Fred is doing this since 10 years, for free. Also there is some moderators on the mailing list.

The mailing list is open to anybody, and it's looks like it a good idea. You can access to archive of the list, but you need to be registered on the list. It looks like it's also a good thing that it's not totally public.

Wikipelloche

Contents are mostly in french, and translation is needed. It can be made by people working on emulsion.

Pip proposes to do a translation in english and Alex propose his help for technical vocabulary.

Questions about differences between filmlabs ressource pages and several or one wiki.

For recipes, and see different versions of differents contributors, one can also you github.

Creating a “marketplace”, it can be a page on a wiki? → better to make a separate mailing list on filmlabs.

Process Reversal database and spreasheets to calculate.

http://www.filmlabs.org/

Following the Filmlabs Meeting in Nantes and the meeting about our internet tools, here is a recap of the functioning and evolutions of the filmlabs website, the different mailing lists and the under construction wiki.

WEBSITE

http://www.filmlabs.org/

On the filmlabs website, you’ll find a short presentation of each lab, technical tips, infos about distribution, some writings and a data base of the works developed in the labs.

For those who were at the filmlabs meeting but are not listed yet on the website, please send a short presentation of your lab, a visual, a list of equipment, your contact and a link to your web page to Fred at webmestre@filmlabs.org

To include your work in the catalogue, go to http://www.filmlabs.org/travaux_recents/liste_complete_uk.php and fill in the form. Your work will then appear in the ‘recent works’ list and an e-mail will be automatically sent to the ‘agenda’ filmlabs mailing list. We are currently studying the possibility that an e-mail might be sent as well to the venues members of the kino climates network http://www.kino-climates.org/

Call for translators : many pages only exist in one language and could be translated. Please contact Fred: webmestre@filmlabs.org

FILMLABS MAILING LISTS

There are 3 filmlabs mailing lists :

- FORUM : discussion forum, mostly technique oriented forum@filmlabs.org - AGENDA : to inform the network about screenings, recent works, meetings etc. agenda@filmlabs.org - and the newly created POTLATCH : kind of a ‘market’ for all equipment exchange – selling - searching potlatch@filmlabs.org

The mailing lists are open to everyone but you need to register. To subscribe: http://www.filmlabs.org/index.php/forumandagenda/ Everyone who was present in Nantes will be automatically registered for the Potlatch list.

Each e-mail is submitted to moderation before being distributed to the list. For the ones who subscribed, it is possible to consult the mailing list archives here: https://listes.domainepublic.net/listinfo/forum/

FILMLABS WIKI

Filmlabs wiki is under construction. For the moment, it only concerns the emulsion making but it will be extended to other topics. wiki It will be a technical sharing space, lively and progressive – ongoing researches, personal recipes, experimentations – parallel to the technical tips section on the website http://www.filmlabs.org/index.php/technical-tips/, which will continue to be the place where all the background documents will be gathered in a fixed form.

Max will create a guideline for the wiki. More details will follow in a next e-mail.

Call for contributors for the wiki : contact Maxime wikimaster@filmlabs.org
